Traveller Injunction Success

On Friday, the council received notification of unauthorised encampments at Pioneer Way and at Walworth Business Park that were in breach of our traveller injunction that we successfully obtained from the High Court earlier this summer.

On the same day, council officers and the police attended both sites advising the occupiers that they were in breach of the order. This resulted in the encampments quickly dispersing under threat of arrest. This is the first time we’ve had to use the injunction in this way - which saved a lengthy court process.

My thanks to Hampshire Constabulary for responding so quickly. I’m delighted that the injunction is so far proving successful and I hope the swift action of both council officers and the police will act as a further deterrent to prevent unauthorised encampments in and around Andover.
